Over at DFS RETRO, we’re still going on the double-sized issue 12. Alex and Walter try to recover the bag of money from themselves from when they first met. Yeah, time-travel, messes with our heads too.

Alex’s mouth is both one of his greatest advantages and disadvantages. He gets himself into as much trouble as he talks himself out of. Walter is the quiet type.

Last weekend we attended TCAF. We had been on waiting list but when it looked like we weren’t getting in we gave up, only to get an offer of space at the last minute. But at that point we weren’t ready. But we did go and we saw lots of old friends and great cartoonists and their work. Chris will be adding an extra wing to house his growing library.

The books are coming along, the mini book down to final tweaking and corrections. The Mississauga Jay book still needs it’s cover, but the interiors are about done. We’d been aiming to have them for TCAF, so not too far over the original timeline.

And don’t forget, over at DFS Retro, Alex and Walter are closing in on Alex and Walter. Think that sounds weird to read? You should try writing it.

In other news, Chris has been working on a tablet PC for a month now and loving every minute of it. It’s part of the reason for trying out new things with the colouring. This past weekend we got together to do some more scripting, (Jeff was about to run out of things to draw!) and Jeff got a chance to try out Chris’ tablet. Two days later and he’s now in possession of his own.

Don’t expect a sudden shift in the art on DFS, it’s likely going to be a learning curve, but maybe some day soon everything will be just little ones and zeroes. until then, it’s good old pens, pencils and paper.

But Chris isn’t giving up his magic crayoning board.

Cause what major figure in organized crime doesn’t love surprises?

Speaking of Eddy the Lump, over at Dressed For Success Retro, we’re starting the double sized Issue 12 this week, featuring another of Eddy’s attempts to deal with Alex and Walter.

As for us this past week, Jeff went to the wrap party for TDot Comics, Quintessential Comics and had a nice chat on camera. Chris meanwhile attended the Toronto Wizard convention as a representative of the comic book daily website to discover some new webcomics for his walkabouts. It was also a good opportunity to scout the show out for a potential future Egestappearance. (I can’t believe we used to call it that) As it is now, much like the Fan Expo show we did last fall, it’s a real hodge podge of fandom, with a small percentage of artists alley being webcomics type creators. Not likely something we would do unless the show changes.

Next up is the Toronto Comic Art Festival. We were on the waiting list, but the demand for space obviously was too high. But we’ll be attending as readers and enthusiasts.

And now the reveal of the mysterious figure, although by now I’d sorta think people would have put it together. We are now dipping back into the old DFS stories and this is one of a group of Bounty Hunters that were tasked with bringing in Alex waaaay back in issue 20 of the black and white stories.

Jeff and I were actually doing some scripting this past weekend and it felt good to not only be back dealing with these old story elements, but also with the type of stories and writing we did originally. Doing our take on an Indiana Jones story was fun, but it kind of forced us into a particular approach. Now we are freer to just let the story go where it needs to and the jokes to be more prevalent.

Over at Dressed For Success Retro, we’re coming to the end of Issue 10, part 2 of a story poking fun at Big Media, the TMNT and Rob Leifeld as we do our sideways issue salute to the master of not drawing feet. It’s ways off from Issue 20 yet, but there has been a lot of stuff that we will be connecting back to as the new story goes forward. And the next couple issues, ho boy!
